We designed a simple yet efficient 4-beats circuit that allowed players to alternate between phases accelerations and phases of turns and dodging obstacles.In order to create risktaking and decision space, we created some shortcuts, riskier and more demanding but allowing them to gain a few precious seconds over their opponent.

We implemented a "boost" mechanic , that was triggered when passing over the little yellow marks all over the track. This was also made in order to create the temptation of taking risks by approaching obstacles.I've been able to iterate very early with scripted objects triggering the boost and playtest them to make sure they were risky but not too punishing. Here you can see the final disposition.Additionnally to the boost, we implemented a "dash" bar which, when filled, triggered a powerful burst of speed.As we wanted it to serve as a comeback mechanic, we made it so it would fill up whenever players got a boost or when they took aspiration (when they were right behind the other player). This allowed for intense confrontations
